All properties within the Borough of Westwood having an automatic fire alarm system or a fire sprinkler system shall be equipped with a key box meeting the minimum standards set forth on Schedule B annexed hereto.[1] This shall not apply to owner-occupied one- and two-family dwellings.

A. 
The key box shall be of a UL type and approved by the Borough of Westwood Fire Official.
B. 
The rapid entry key box shall be installed in a location approved by the Borough of Westwood Fire Official.
C. 
The Fire Department shall immediately report to the police desk via radio whenever entry is gained to a structure through use of a lock box.
A. 
The rapid key boxes shall contain the following:
(1) 
Keys to locked points of egress, whether on interior or exterior of such buildings;
(2) 
Keys to the locked mechanical rooms;
(3) 
Keys to the locked elevator rooms;
(4) 
Keys to the elevator controls;
(5) 
Keys to any fence or secured areas;
(6) 
Keys to any other areas as directed by the Fire Official;
(7) 
A floor plan of the rooms within the building.

All keys shall be plainly labeled in a manner consistent with the labeling in the floor plan.[1]

Any building owner who wishes to be exempted in whole or in part from this article may petition the Fire Official in writing. For good cause, the Fire Official may grant exceptions or extensions in writing, with a copy to the Borough Clerk and the Board of Fire Officers. Extensions and exceptions shall be revokable at any time on 30 days' notice, certified mail, return receipt requested.
Any building owner violating this article shall be subject to penalties as set forth in the Uniform Fire Code.
