There is hereby established as a department of City government a Department of Fire Protection. The department head of the Department of Fire Protection shall be the Fire Chief or, in the event that the position of the Fire Chief is vacant, the Deputy Chief. The Fire Chief or the Deputy Chief shall report directly to the City Manager.
A. 
The functions and duties of the Department of the Fire Protection shall include responsibility for fire safety within the City, the enforcement of such ordinances as are assigned to the Department of Fire Protection, the extinguishing of fires within the City and such related functions and duties as may be prescribed by the City Manager.
B. 
The Department of Fire Protection shall operate pursuant of the provisions of Chapter 36, Fire Department, Article I, Composition and Organization, of the Code of the City of Englewood, including the provisions of the rules and regulations referred to therein, and the members of the Department shall have the responsibilities prescribed in said Article I and the said rules and regulations.[1]
