Authorized activities of Company members. 

The Duncannon Fire Company is hereby designated as the officially recognized Fire Company of the Borough of Duncannon.

A. 

The Duncannon Fire Company is hereby authorized to provide such services to the Borough as may be necessary for the protection of property and persons situate therein, which include, by way of example and not of limitation, the extinguishment and prevention of loss of life and property from fire, automobile accidents, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, and other dangerous situations.

B. 

The Fire Company and its personnel may also provide nonemergency and public service functions, such as, again by way of example and not of limitation, removing water from property after storms and assisting in the removal, abatement and prevention of damage or injury to persons or property, whether from natural causes or man-made situations.

C. 

The Fire Company and its personnel may also conduct and participate in such training activities and drills, either within or outside of the Borough, as may be deemed necessary by the officers of the Company to maintain proficiency in providing service.

D. 

The Fire Company may also respond to calls and provide services to municipalities outside of the Borough.

A. 

In addition to actually participating in the activities of the Fire Company as authorized above, or going to or returning from any activity, the members of the Fire Company are also authorized to do the following things:

(1) 

Engage in any type of drill, training, ceremony, practice, test or parade when duly called or authorized by an officer or officers of the Fire Company;

(2) 

Engage in fund-raising activities for the Fire Company, when authorized by an officer or officers of the Fire Company;

(3) 

Engage in the performance of any other duty or activity authorized by any officer of the Fire Company, including but not limited to repairs or doing other work about or on the fire apparatus or buildings and grounds of the Fire Company, upon authorization of the Chief of the Company or other person in charge.

(4) 

Answer any emergency calls for any purpose and ride upon the fire apparatus which is owned or used by the Company.

(5) 

While performing any other duties of such Fire Company as authorized by the municipality in writing, permitting the members of the Company to engage in the performance of any other duty or activity that is authorized by any officer of the Fire Company, including but not limited to using fire vehicles and volunteer personnel in a funeral cortege, or using fire vehicles and volunteers for special events, such as delivering Santa Claus at Christmas, etc.

B. 

As used in this chapter, the term "firefighter" shall include volunteer emergency service personnel.
