[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Sloan 2-20-1995 by L.L. No. 1-1995 (Ch. 30 of the 1989 Code). Amendments noted where applicable.]
The intent of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Sloan is to abolish the Sloan Village Court. It is also the intent of this chapter to abolish the positions of Village Justice, Acting Village Justice and Court Clerk.
On or after the effective date of this chapter, the Village of Sloan shall cease having a Village Court.
The positions of Village Justice, Acting Village Justice and Court Clerk are hereby abolished.
On or after the effective date of this chapter, all court cases from the Village of Sloan will be handled by the Town of Cheektowaga court system.
Within five days of the effective date of this chapter, the Board of Trustees of the Village of Sloan shall file a copy of such chapter with the Clerk and court system of the Town of Cheektowaga and with the State Comptroller.
This chapter shall take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State; provided, however, that such chapter is subject to permissive referendum, and the Village Clerk shall forthwith proceed to notice such fact and conduct such referendum if required by petition.[1]
