A. 
Signs shall meet all requirements set forth in Chapter 299, Signs, of the Code of the Township of Ocean.
B. 
In the Pinelands area, the mandatory sign provisions set forth in Article XI of this chapter shall also apply.
The limitations on signs set forth in this article shall not apply to any sign or directional device erected by the federal, state, county or Township government, or agency thereof, nor to any "no trespassing" sign erected in accordance with the applicable statutes of the State of New Jersey.
The limitations on sign areas as set forth in this section for the commercial and industrial districts shall not apply to parking lot markers, directional signs and entrance and exit signs which are erected two square feet in area and do not contain any advertising of the use on the premises, and further provided that the number and location of such signs are approved by the Planning Board.
A. 
Residential districts. In addition to those provided for under Chapter 299, Signs, of the Code of the Township of Ocean, the following signs are permitted in the FO, PV, R-2, R-1A, BC and WD Districts:[1]
(1) 
One nonilluminated residential nameplate sign, situated within the property lines and not exceeding 72 square inches on any one side.
(2) 
One nonflashing sign on each street on which the use adjoins advertising a farm or nursery activity situated not less than 10 square feet in area on any one side.
(3) 
One temporary sign pertaining to the lease or sale of the same lot or construction of the building on which it is placed. Such signs shall be nonflashing, shall be situated within the property lines of the premises to which it relates and shall not exceed eight square feet in total area.
(4) 
One nonflashing sign on each street on which the use adjoins, identifying an institutional or recreational use and not exceeding 12 square feet in area on any one side and located not less than 10 feet from any street or property line.
(5) 
One nonflashing sign to identify a permitted home occupation or home professional office which does not exceed two square feet on any one side.

B. 
Commercial districts. In addition to those provided for under Chapter 299, Signs, of the Code of the Township of Ocean, the following signs are permitted in the C-1 and C-2 Districts:
(1) 
Those permitted in residential districts; plus:
(2) 
One sign placed or inscribed upon the facade of the building for each permitted use or activity. Such signs shall not exceed an area of one square foot for each one foot in width of the front of the building or portion thereof devoted to such use or activity. The signs may be illuminated.
C. 
Waterfront Development District. In addition to those provided for under Chapter 299, Signs, of the Code of the Township of Ocean, the following signs are permitted in the WD District:
(1) 
Those permitted in residential districts; plus:
(2) 
Signs which shall not exceed in the aggregate 20% of the total area of the front or rear of the building and one freestanding sign not to exceed 25 square feet in area.
D. 
Industrial districts. In addition to those provided for under Chapter 299, Signs, of the Code of the Township of Ocean, the following signs are permitted in the I-1 and I-2 Districts:[2]
(1) 
Signs shall be permitted on the premises which shall not exceed in the aggregate 10% of the area of the front facade of the building, and further provided that not more than 25% of the allowable sign area shall be located within the required front yard area. Such signs may be illuminated, but shall not be of the flashing type.

E. 
For commercial uses which are or may be permitted in the FO, PV or R-2 Districts, the following signs are permitted:[3]
(1) 
One nonflashing sign advertising the business or activity on the site, not exceeding 12 square feet on any one side. Such sign may be freestanding or attached to the building. If freestanding, the sign shall be located at least 10 feet from a lot line or street line.

F. 
For industrial uses which are permitted or may be allowed in the FO District, the following signs are permitted:[4]
(1) 
One nonflashing sign advertising the business or activity on the site not exceeding 20 square feet on any one side and located not less than 20 feet from any lot line or street line.

G. 
For all uses or activities which are or may be permitted in Cannabis Use Overlay Zone No. 1 and Cannabis Use Overlay Zone No. 2, the following signs are permitted:

(1) 
One nonflashing sign advertising the cannabis-related use or activity on the site, not exceeding 20 square feet on any one side. Such sign may attached to the building. Freestanding signs shall be prohibited on any portion of the site, whether located within a cannabis use overlay zone or any other zone district.
(2) 
Should more than one cannabis-related use or activity occur on the same site, multiple signs shall not be permitted unless additional cannabis-related uses or activities are independently operated by a separate entity.
(3) 
Should a non-cannabis-related use or activity occur on the site, the signage requirements of the underlying zone district shall apply to the non-cannabis-related use or activity.
