The system of numbering all buildings and lots in the Township shown on a map entitled "Ocean Township House Numbering Map," as superimposed on the assessment map of the Township, Ocean County, New Jersey, providing a number for all buildings and lots in the Township, and made a part of this chapter as if fully set forth at length herein, is adopted and the number shown thereon for each building or lot is assigned to that building or lot. Copies of the map shall be filed in the offices of the Tax Assessor and Zoning Officer.

Upon any subdivision or resubdivision of land in the Township resulting in a lot or lots other than those delineated on the map, the Tax Assessor shall assign a number to each lot resulting from the subdivision or resubdivision which shall be in proper numerical sequence in relation to the number assigned to other lots fronting on the same street, and he/she shall record same on the house numbering map.

No subdivision or resubdivision of land requiring approval by the Planning Board shall be recorded on the Tax Assessment Map unless a house number has been assigned by the Tax Assessor to each lot so subdivided.

Whenever any house, building or structure shall be erected or located in the Township after the establishment of the numbering system, in order to preserve the continuity and uniformity of numbers of the house, buildings and structures, it shall be the duty of the owner to procure the correct number or numbers as designated, from the office of the Tax Assessor, for the property, and to immediately affix the number or numbers so assigned to the house, building or structure. No building permit shall be granted for any house, building or structure until the owner a procured from the Tax Assessor the official number of proposed or existing house, building or structure. No certificate of occupancy shall be issued for any house, building or structure hereafter erected, enlarged or occupied until permanent and proper number has been affixed.
The number so assigned to each house, building or structure on the front of the building or in the front yard of the lot on the building stands, in numerals not less then two inches in height and so located as to be clear visible to persons passing by the premises on the abutting street.
The occupant or owner of a house, building or structure who shall fail to comply with the provisions of § 110-4 within 30 days after June 1, 1980, shall, upon conviction thereof be subject to a fine of not more than $25, at the discretion of the court.
