It is hereby declared and found that it is of vital importance that the towing of motor vehicles from private property within the Village of Farmingdale is a matter affecting the public interest and, consequently, should be subject to supervision and administrative control for the purpose of safeguarding the public against fraud and imposition of exorbitant towing charges or any similar abuse.
The Board of Trustees of the Incorporated Village of Farmingdale hereby accepts the applicability of § 221-40 of the Town Code of the Town of Oyster Bay, New York, entitled "Towing from private property," for the Incorporated Village of Farmingdale.
Any offense against any provision of this chapter shall be a violation of this chapter which shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $250 or imprisonment for a period not exceeding 15 days for each such offense, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
