City of Passaic, NJ Chapter 8 Credit Card Payments

§ 8-1 Use of credit cards authorized.

A. All fees, fines, taxes or other municipal charges due to the City of Passaic may be paid with a credit card as set forth below.

B. The City shall phase in the use of credit card payments throughout all of the City departments.

C. Internet credit card payments will not be available at the current time but may be implemented by the City in the future.

§ 8-2 Convenience fee for use of credit card.

A. The following convenience fee shall be charged to the card holder for each credit card transaction:

(1) Over the counter.

(a) Discover credit/debit: 2.35% with a $1.25 minimum.

(b) MasterCard credit/debit: 2.35% with a $1.25 minimum.

(c) VISA credit/debit: 2.35% with a $1.25 minimum.

(d) EBT: 2.35% with a $1.25 minimum.

(e) American Express: 2.89% and $0.15 per transaction.

(2) Internet.

(a) Discover credit/debit: 2.35% with a $1.25 minimum.

(b) MasterCard credit/debit: 2.35% with a $1.25 minimum.

(c) VISA credit: 2.35% with a $1.25 minimum.

(d) VISA consumer debit: 2.35% with a $1.25 minimum.

(e) EBT: 2.35% with a $1.25 minimum.

(f) American Express: 2.89% and $0.15 per transaction.

(g) Checks by Web: 2.35% with a $1.25 minimum.

B. All convenience fees are nonrefundable. The convenience fees are administered and collected by the credit card processing company. Any disputes or questions regarding the convenience fee should be brought to the credit card processing company.
