Effective January 10, 2011, members of the Town Council and members of the School Committee shall not receive health or dental insurance from the Town of Johnston unless said elected official is already receiving health and/or dental insurance from the Town of Johnston. In the case of an elected official receiving health and/or dental insurance on the effective date of this article, said elected official may continue to receive said health and/or dental insurance from the Town of Johnston so long as he or she remains an elected official subject to Article IV, Chapter 74, of this Code. If the Mayor elects to receive health or dental insurance from the Town of Johnston, the Mayor shall contribute to the cost of said benefits in an amount to be determined by the Town Council not to exceed the highest contribution provided for on any collective bargaining agreement in effect or as may be established by state law.
