The purpose of this chapter is to safeguard potable water supplies
by preventing backflow into public water systems.
This chapter is to be reasonably interpreted. It is the intent
of this chapter to recognize that there are varying degrees of hazard
and to apply the principle that the degree of protection should be
commensurate with the degree of hazard.
