There shall be an Office of Tax Assessor, consisting of the Tax Assessor, who shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Municipal Council, for a term of four years commencing July 1 next following such appointments.
The Tax Assessor shall hold a tax assessor certificate as provided in N.J.S.A. 54:1-25 et seq. The Tax Assessor shall value all real property in the Borough for the purpose of assessment for taxation; prepare and maintain tax lists and duplicates; have custody of and maintain the official Tax Assessment Map of the Borough; and do and perform all of the duties and functions required or provided by general law pertaining to the valuation of real property and assessment of taxes.
The Tax Assessor shall be paid such salary as may be fixed by the Annual Salary Ordinance.
