LIBRARY PROPERTY
Shall include property belonging to, owned or controlled by the Hawthorne Public Library as well as any property or materials provided to the Hawthorne Public Library or any member thereof by way or loan or transfer from any other library by way of reciprocal lending agreement.
No person shall damage, deface or destroy or permit or aid the damage, defacing or destruction of any book or other article or any part thereof which is owned or in the custody of the Hawthorne Public Library.
No person shall register or furnish a false name or address or use any library card other than the one issued to said person for the purpose of borrowing any book or article from the Hawthorne Public Library or using any of the equipment or facilities thereof.
A. 
No person shall retain or fail to return any book, article or other item borrowed from the Hawthorne Public Library beyond the time prescribed by the rules and regulations of such library.
B. 
If any person fails to return any book, article or other item when due, he shall be first notified of such failure in accordance with the rules and regulations of the library before any complaint shall be made for any violation of this chapter.
Every person convicted of a violation of any provision of this chapter, or any supplement thereto, shall be liable to a fine not to exceed $2,000 or imprisonment for a term not to exceed 90 days or a requirement to perform community service for a period not to exceed 90 days. In addition to any fine or penalty imposed, the court shall require restitution to the Hawthorne Library for any lost, stolen or damaged book, article or other material as part of any sentence.
