A. 
The following words and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the following meanings:
BOROUGH
The Borough of Hawthorne.
MERCHANDISE
Goods, wares, merchandise, food stuffs and beverages.
PERSON
Every partnership, corporation and association.
PUBLIC RECREATIONAL AREA
Includes every public park, public playground, school playground, public athletic field, public swimming pool and the public property surrounding such pool in the Borough, and every tract of land upon which any public exhibition or entertainment is being held in the Borough.
PUBLIC STREET
Every public highway, avenue and thoroughfare in the Borough.
B. 
Any word herein importing the singular number shall include and apply to several persons as well as one person.
It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in vending or exposing or offering for sale any merchandise in any public park or public recreation area or upon any public street in the Borough within a distance of 300 feet of any public park or public recreational area without permission of the Municipal Council. Such restriction shall not apply to any established snack stand facility operated at the facility.
