A police department is hereby established in and for the Borough of Hellertown. The Police Department shall be composed of a Chief of Police, any other officers of rank under the Chief of Police, and as many patrolmen as the Borough Council shall, from time to time, determine.

The Chief of Police, under the direction of the Mayor, shall be in charge of the Police Department and shall have supervision over the members thereof in the exercise of their powers, duties and authority.
The existing police force of the Borough of Hellertown is hereby established as the Police Department established by this chapter.
Nothing herein shall affect the authority of the Mayor to appoint special policemen during emergencies.
