Borough of Hellertown, PA Chapter 66 Police Department

§ 66-1 Department established; classification; number of members.

A police department is hereby established in and for the Borough of Hellertown. The Police Department shall be composed of a Chief of Police, any other officers of rank under the Chief of Police, and as many patrolmen as the Borough Council shall, from time to time, determine.

§ 66-2 Chief of Police.

The Chief of Police, under the direction of the Mayor, shall be in charge of the Police Department and shall have supervision over the members thereof in the exercise of their powers, duties and authority.

§ 66-3 Status of existing police force.

The existing police force of the Borough of Hellertown is hereby established as the Police Department established by this chapter.

§ 66-4 Appointment of special policemen by Mayor.

Nothing herein shall affect the authority of the Mayor to appoint special policemen during emergencies.
