Any property owner wishing to discontinue water service shall give written notice at the Township Municipal Building or office of the Township Water Superintendent. Charges for water supply will continue until such notice is received by the Township and the Township authorizes the water supply turned off at the curb stop and the date thereof recorded. Said date shall be when charges to the consumer cease. In no case will an abatement of an advanced-billed flat-rate charge be taken into consideration for a shorter period than one month nor for part of a month.
In case of the temporary vacancy of any premises, the water supply will be turned off by the Township upon written request of the owner or his authorized agent and payment of the applicable charge as provided in Article VIII. Upon written request to the Township, the water supply will be turned on for an additional charge as provided in Article VIII. Said request or orders must be in writing, but the temporary discontinuance of water upon request of the owner, or his authorized agent, shall not in any way impair, diminish or relieve said owner of the premises from complying with this chapter or any rules and regulations promulgated thereunder.
Where water supply has been discontinued for any cause, the date of physical disconnection shall be recorded by the Township Water Superintendent, and the charges for water supply shall cease as of that date. Where any water supply has been recorded as discontinued and later found to be in use, the Township shall charge the owner of the premises for the use of water from the time said supply was recorded as discontinued, in addition to any arrears chargeable against the premises or use.
