§ 40-1 Periodic checking and maintenance.
All trucks and town equipment should be checked over and greased
at least every 30 days to ensure maximum efficiency and minimum wear
and operation costs.
§ 40-2 Use of town equipment outside of town.
No town equipment shall be used outside the town without the
knowledge and permission of the Town Council; provided, however, that
this limitation shall not be construed to apply to police cars in
routine work or when it is necessary for town trucks to go outside
the town in serving out-of-town customers of the town.
§ 40-3 Loaning town equipment.
No town equipment shall be loaned or let out for hire without
approval of the Town Council.
§ 40-4 Limitation on use of town equipment by town employees.
No employee of the town shall use any of the town equipment
at any time, other than during working hours when working at regular
duties on town projects.
§ 40-5 Storage and care in use of town equipment.

§ 40-6 Donation to charity.
Any bicycle or moped which has been in the possession of the
Police Department of the Town of Elkton, unclaimed, for more than
30 days, shall be donated to a charitable organization.
§ 40-7 Publication of notice; notification of owner.
Prior to such donation, the location and description of the
bicycle or moped shall be published at least once a week for two successive
weeks in a newspaper of general circulation within the town, and if
there is a license tag affixed to the bicycle or moped, the record
owner shall be notified directly.
