[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Nyack 7-10-1935 (Ch. 21 of the 1972 Code). Amendments noted where applicable.]
GENERAL REFERENCES
Fire prevention — See Ch. 196.
No person or persons shall remove any fire engine, hose wagon, hook-and-ladder truck or other apparatus or any appliance or attachment thereto belonging to the Village of Nyack, or which apparatus or attachment the Village of Nyack assists in maintaining or contributes to the support, upkeep or maintenance of the company owning or operating the same, outside of the Fire District of the Nyack Fire Department without first obtaining the permission of the Mayor of said Village or at least two Trustees thereof under a penalty not exceeding $50 for each and every offense, and in addition thereto, a violation of this chapter shall constitute disorderly conduct, and a person violating the same shall be deemed a disorderly person.
No person or persons shall willfully or maliciously injure or destroy any hose, engine or other fire apparatus, appliance or attachment thereof belonging to said Village of Nyack or to the Fire Department thereof or to any fire company within said Village, under a penalty not exceeding $50 for each and every offense, and in addition thereto a violation of this chapter shall constitute disorderly conduct, and a person violating the same shall be deemed a disorderly person.
A. 
Fire hydrants shall be opened only by members of the Nyack Fire Department in the discharge of their duties as such, except by the order or permission of the Board of Trustees of said Village or the Water Commissioners thereof.
B. 
No person shall open any hydrant, gate, valve stop or blowcock or place any obstruction on or about the same.
C. 
Any person offending against this chapter shall be subject to a penalty not exceeding $10 for each and every offense, and in addition thereto, a violation of this chapter shall constitute disorderly conduct, and a person violating the same shall be deemed a disorderly person.[1]

Editor's Note: Original § 21-4, False alarms of fire, was repealed 2-14-1991 by L.L. No. 2-1991. Said local law also provided that false fire alarms be dealt with under Chapter 123 of this Code and/or the New York State Penal Law, as deemed appropriate by enforcement officials.
