126a Plan Review Fees
The following required permit applications, inspections, and fees are adopted by the Borough of Mars to facilitate the enforcement of the Borough Code,[1] the Municipalities Planning Code provisions,[2] the Uniform Construction Code,[3] Chapter 270, Zoning, of the Code of the Borough of Mars, and other applicable ordinances of the Borough as they pertain to the construction, renovation, repair, and occupation of Borough residential, commercial and industrial structures.

The following permits and fees shall be the responsibility of the residents and businesses of the Borough to obtain and pay for.
The forms for all permits shall be provided by the Borough to all applicants and shall be required to be filled in and submitted to the Borough office or to the Zoning Officer or appointed inspection agencies.
The Borough shall from time to time adopt by resolution a permit and fee schedule. Construction or installation of the facilities listed in this chapter shall require, depending on their size and characteristics, a zoning review fee, a building permit fee and an inspection fee.

The Borough adopts the following building permit and inspection fees for residential and commercial construction: Refer to the current fee schedule of the UCC third-party inspector attached hereto and made a part hereof.[2]

A. 
Permits for attached decks greater than 25 square feet in size and erected 30 inches above the ground surface and decks smaller than 25 square feet but erected 30 inches above the ground surface: permit to be calculated at $50 for inspection, plus $0.10 per square foot of deck area.
B. 
All building inspections performed by inspectors not appointed by the Borough as its official representatives shall be billed directly by said third-party inspectors to the building owner or responsible party.
C. 
Engineering or legal reviews performed by the Borough Engineer and/or the Borough Solicitor shall be paid for by a developer or property owner who has submitted a subdivision plan, site plan, building plan, or other plans to the Borough, at the customary hourly rate charged by the Engineer and Solicitor to the Borough. Before such reviews shall commence, a deposit shall be paid to the Borough, to be credited against the expense of such reviews, representing the estimate by the Engineer and the Solicitor of the cost of said reviews. Any additional time not covered by said deposit will be billed to and be payable by the developer/property owner, and any excess deposit shall be refunded to the developer/property owner.
D. 
Review and submittal of subdivision plans: $100.
E. 
All other fees or permits required by Borough zoning, maintenance and building ordinances and not specifically listed herein: $35.
F. 
Copies of Chapter 270, Zoning, of the Code of the Borough of Mars: $15.
G. 
All other hearings before the Mars Borough Zoning Hearing Board and procedures for conditional use or special exception: $600.
