The management of the public schools of the Town of Cumberland
shall be vested in School Administrative District No. 51, in accordance
with the laws of the State of Maine.
The members of the Board of School Directors of School Administrative
District No. 51, representing the Town of Cumberland, shall be qualified
voters of the Town and must have been residents of the Town for one
year immediately prior to the time of election and shall reside in
the Town during their term of office. They shall hold no other elected
office under the Town Charter or ordinances.
If a seat representing the Town of Cumberland on the Board of
School Directors becomes vacant, the Town Council shall appoint an
interim director to fill the vacancy until the next regular election.
The interim director shall serve until a successor is elected and
qualified.
The term of office for members of the School Board of Directors
representing the Town of Cumberland shall begin on the first day of
July following the annual municipal election.
