Editor's Note: For provisions regarding fees for disabled veterans and volunteer fire fighters and ambulance workers, see §§ 948-28 and 948-29. Note that Res. No. 50-2007 directed the Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation to establish a fee schedule for veterans’ use of County parks and facilities equivalent to that offered to senior citizens. As subsequently amended, those veteran fees shall be conditioned upon proof that a veteran is a Suffolk County resident in addition to submission of a DD Form 214 or, in the alternative, a Suffolk County Veteran Resident ID card, or a driver’s license or photo ID issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles acknowledging the bearer as a veteran. (See Res. No. 36-2015, adopted 2-3-2015.) For a senior citizen who served in World War II for a nation that was an ally of the United States and who is now a United States citizen, eligibility shall be conditioned upon discharge papers from his or her native land, along with submission of proof that the veteran is a Suffolk County resident over the age of 65.
[Added 5-9-2000 by Res. No. 395-2000]

B.
Eligibility under this program for exemption from such fees by veterans
shall be conditioned upon submission of a Veterans Administration
identification card and submission of proof that the veteran is a

Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation, which Department
shall promulgate rules and regulations to implement this section.
C.
Eligibility under this program for exemption from such fees by disabled
veterans shall be conditioned upon submission of a Veterans Administration

while on active duty) holding such card and submission of proof that
the veteran is a Suffolk County resident.
[Added 8-28-2001 by Res. No. 703-2001]
