Editor's Note: For provisions regarding fees for disabled veterans and volunteer fire fighters and ambulance workers, see §§ 948-28 and 948-29. Note that Res. No. 50-2007 directed the Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation to establish a fee schedule for veterans’ use of County parks and facilities equivalent to that offered to senior citizens. As subsequently amended, those veteran fees shall be conditioned upon proof that a veteran is a Suffolk County resident in addition to submission of a DD Form 214 or, in the alternative, a Suffolk County Veteran Resident ID card, or a driver’s license or photo ID issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles acknowledging the bearer as a veteran. (See Res. No. 36-2015, adopted 2-3-2015.) For a senior citizen who served in World War II for a nation that was an ally of the United States and who is now a United States citizen, eligibility shall be conditioned upon discharge papers from his or her native land, along with submission of proof that the veteran is a Suffolk County resident over the age of 65.
