[Adopted 8-13-1996 by Res. No. 748-1996 (Ch. 631, Art. IV,
of the 1985 Code)]
The County Legislature of the County of Suffolk does hereby
elect to assume the entire additional cost required to provide the
twenty-year retirement plan, with additional 1/60 benefits provided
in §§ 552 and 553, under Article 14-B, of the New York
Retirement and Social Security Law, for sheriffs, undersheriffs and
deputy sheriffs whose duties include at least 50% criminal law enforcement,
pursuant to Chapter 165 of the Laws of 1995, the veto of Resolution
No. 459-1996 to the contrary notwithstanding.
The effective date of this plan shall be the July 23, 1996.
The County of Suffolk hereby elects to pay any past service
charges related to the election of the above-described plan over a
period of 10 years, with the first payment due December 15, 1996,
in the estimated amount of $696,130.
The Suffolk County Comptroller is hereby authorized, empowered
and directed to file an affidavit with the Clerk of the County Legislature
to the effect that the County of Suffolk has received an estimate
of the cost of this plan.
