The Township may restrict the operation of vehicles on highways, roads and bridges under its jurisdiction pursuant to the Vehicle Code, § 4902, 75 Pa.C.S.A. § 4902, and PennDOT Publication 221, both as amended.
The Township hereby adopts, enacts and sets the weight limits on Township roads, bridges and highways as set forth in the "Road Posting Recommendation Report for Upper Burrell Township" by Bankson Engineers (the Township Engineer), dated August 2011.
The Supervisors of Upper Burrell Township shall erect or cause to be erected and maintain restriction signs within 25 feet of each bridge or portion of highway restricted at each end of and at intersections of that portion of any Township bridge or highway affected thereby.
All ordinances or part of ordinances which are inconsistent herewith are repealed, including Ordinance No. 1 of 1977. Ordinance No. 2 of 1989 shall continue in full force and effect.[1]

Any person or legal entity which violates the provisions of this article and hauls or travels in excess of the posted weight limit shall, upon summary conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $150 plus $150 for each 500 pounds, or part thereof, in excess of 3,000 pounds over the maximum allowable weight. In addition, the penalties contained in 75 Pa.C.S.A. § 4902(g) shall also apply to a violation of this article.
