A.
The Township Committee has determined that it is necessary and in
the interest of public safety to enact certain regulations pertaining
to recreational conduct on the Wading River Bridge within Washington
Township, Burlington County; and
B.
The Township Committee has received information that the State Police
have received complaints of dangerous swimming and diving activities
from, on, and surrounding the Wading River Bridge; and
C.
The Township Committee has determined pursuant to various enabling
statutes made and provided by law that it is in the best interests
of the Township of Washington and the public health, safety and welfare
to prohibit diving from the Wading River Bridge.
Swimming, diving, and related activities from, on, or utilizing
the Wading River Bridge within the confines of Washington Township
is hereby prohibited.
Unless another penalty is expressly provided within the ordinances
of Washington Township, every person convicted of a violation of this
article or any supplement thereto shall be sentenced in accordance
with N.J.S.A. 40:49-5.
