The placing of billboards or advertising signs and the posting
of bills, posters, notices or other forms of advertising on any bridge,
building or other municipal property of this city are hereby forbidden.
No person shall locate, erect, construct or set out or cause
to be located, erected, constructed or set out, within the limits
of any highway, any sign, signpost, post, hitching post, tree, shrub,
pump, awning, fence, building or structure of any kind, either by
attachment to any building or by evacuation of any part of any highway
or other municipal way, except in compliance with such orders and
upon such conditions as may from time to time be imposed by the Director
of Public Works, nor without first having obtained permission therefor
from said Director.
No person shall place any awning or part of any awning which
overhangs any public sidewalk in the City nearer than 7Â 1/2 feet
from the level of the sidewalk.
No person shall hang, suspend or set out any cloth sign or advertising
banner on or over any street or sidewalk or other municipal way, except
in compliance with such orders and upon such conditions as may from
time to time be imposed by the Director of Public Works, nor without
first having obtained permission therefor from said Director.
Any person who violates any of the provisions of this chapter
shall be guilty of a violation not to exceed a penalty of $100. Such
person shall be deemed to be guilty of a separate offense for each
and every day during any portion of which any violation of this chapter
is committed, continued or permitted by such person and shall be punishable
therefor as provided therein.
