All civil service employees, except uniformed members of the Police and Fire Departments, with 20 years' service in the employ of the City of Yonkers shall be granted 30 days' terminal leave (1/12 of annual salary at retirement) with pay upon retirement.[2]

Any veteran entitled to time credits for military service during World War II, pursuant to Resolution No. 21-1971 and Resolution No. 22-1971, the Korean War (June 27, 1950 to January 31, 1955), the Vietnam Era (February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975), the Theater of Operation including Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman, Persian Gulf, Red Sea and air space above these location (August 2, 1990 to present) or if he or she served in one or more of the following military conflicts and received an Armed Forces, Navy or Marine Corps expeditionary medal in connection with this service: Lebanon (June 1, 1983 to December 1, 1987); Grenada (October 23, 1983 to November 21, 1983); Panama (December 20, 1989 to January 31, 1990); shall receive an equivalent credit for purposes of computing his or her terminal leave pay.

No. 28-1971 also states that, notwithstanding collective bargaining agreements, any employee entitled to longevity benefits under such agreements shall receive credit for an equivalent amount of time as he may be entitled to for military service during World War II pursuant to Res. Nos. 21-1971 and 22-1971.

As authorized by § 418 of the Retirement and Social Security Law, the widow, widower or member of the family of retired Yonkers' police officers and fire fighters who were members of the New York State Policemen's and Firemen's Retirement System at the time of their death and who were receiving benefits pursuant to Local Law Nos. 7-1968 and 8-1968[1] on or before June 30, 1976, are entitled to any benefit they theretofore received.

Agreements between an employee or prospective employee and the Mayor, City Clerk or other City official which are entered into after the adoption of this article in order to provide benefits, whether or not in exchange for any consideration, to said employee upon the termination of his or her employ, beyond vacation pay or other entitlements which may be provided by this article to which he or she may be entitled, will not be valid until the City Council approves such agreement by a majority vote.
