[Adopted 6-28-2004 by Res. No. 714-2004 (Ch. 730, Art. III, of the 1985 Code)]
The County of Suffolk hereby establishes a policy of awarding eligible homeowners an incentive/rebate of $100 for the closure of residential fuel oil storage tanks with a capacity of 1,100 gallons or less and tanks interconnected with or connected to the same heating equipment, with a combined capacity of 1,100 gallons or less, upon verification that the tanks were replaced, abandoned or removed in accordance with Article 12 of the Sanitary Code.
The award of such an incentive shall be contingent upon submission to the Department of Health Services of written proof of satisfactory completion of the underground tank closure, in accordance with the provisions of Article 12 of the Suffolk County Sanitary Code.
The Department of Health Services is hereby authorized and empowered to develop such procedures and promulgate such forms necessary to verify the satisfactory closure of residential underground storage tanks and to pay the $100 incentive to eligible homeowners.
The incentive shall be available for closures occurring on or after July 1, 2004, subject to the availability of appropriations.
