Sect. 1:01 THE CITY.

The inhabitants of the town of Laconia in the County of Belknap, and the inhabitants of all that part of the town of Gilford lying westerly of a line described as follows - viz., commencing at the southeast corner of school-district No. 13 in said Gilford; thence northerly on the division line of rangeway, between ranges one and two as shown by the Gilford town plan, to the south line of lot originally owned by Joseph Libby; thence easterly on said Libby lot line to the division line or rangeway between ranges two and three; thence northerly, on said division line or rangeway, to Lake Winnipesaukee - shall be a body corporate and politic under the name of the city of Laconia. Sect. 1:02  

The City of Laconia shall be divided into six wards, each of which shall be described and constituted as follows:
WARD 1:
Beginning at a point on the easterly shore of Lake Winnisquam at the Meredith town line; then proceeding southerly along the shore of Lake Winnisquam to a point off the cul-de-sac 175 feet south of the unnamed brook labeled "H" at Ahern Park;
then proceeding along the center line of the Ahern Park access road first easterly, then northerly, and then easterly to a fork in the road located approximately 450 feet south of the Powell Building;
then proceeding on the center line of the northerly fork of the paved road in the State of New Hampshire Department of Corrections Lakes Region Facility first northeasterly, then northerly past the east side of the Powell Building, then easterly to Right Way Path;
then proceeding across Right Way Path along the center line of the unnamed road in the Corrections Facility first northeasterly and then southeasterly to Main Street;
then proceeding southerly along the center line of Main Street to Old North Main Street;
then proceeding southerly along the center line of Old North Main Street to the intersection of Main Street;
then proceeding northerly along the center line of Main Street to Lexington Drive;
then proceeding westerly along the center line of Lexington Drive to the intersection of Lynnewood Road;
then proceeding southerly along the center line of Lynnewood Road to the intersection of Blueberry Lane;
then proceeding easterly along the center line of Blueberry Lane to the intersection of Main Street;
then proceeding southerly along the center line of Main Street to Lewis Street;
then proceeding easterly along the center line of Lewis Street to the western shoreline of Lake Opechee;
then proceeding northerly along the shore of Lake Opechee to a point off the easterly projection of the unnamed drive to units 6 and 7 of Mallard Cove;
then proceeding northerly along the center line of the same unnamed drive of Mallard Cove to the intersection of Elm Street;
then proceeding northwesterly along the center line of Elm Street to the intersection of Parade Road;
then proceeding northerly along the center line of Parade Road to the intersection of Outerbridge Drive;
then proceeding easterly along the center line of Outerbridge Drive to the intersection of Davidson Drive;
then proceeding first easterly and then northerly along the center line of Davidson Drive to the intersection of Admirals Lane, then proceeding northerly along the center line of Admirals Lane to the intersection of Race Point Road, then proceeding northerly along the center line of Race Point Road to the intersection of Fox Crossing Lane, then proceeding northerly along the center line of Fox Crossing Lane to the intersection of Oakleigh Drive;
then proceeding southwesterly along the center line of Oakleigh Drive to the intersection of Long Bay Drive; then proceeding northerly along the center line of Long Bay Drive to the intersection of Teddington Way; then proceeding easterly along the center line of Teddington Way to the end of the drive; then proceeding along the projection of the Teddington Way center line to the center line of the railroad tracks;
then proceeding northerly along the center line of the railroad tracks to the northerly shore of Pickerel Cove;
then proceeding northerly along the westerly shore of Paugus Bay to the intersection of Endicott Street North;
then proceeding easterly along the center line of Endicott Street North over the bridge and easterly along the center line of Endicott Street East to the intersection of Pendleton Road;
then proceeding northerly along the center line of Pendleton Road to the intersection of Ashley Drive;
then proceeding along the center line of Ashley Drive to the intersection of Regis Road;
then proceeding northerly along the center line of Regis Road to the intersection of Pendleton Road;
then proceeding northwesterly along the center line of Pendleton Road to the intersection of Pendleton Beach Road;
then proceeding northeasterly to the center line end of Pendleton Beach Road;
then proceeding easterly to the shoreline of Lake Winnipesaukee;
then proceeding northwesterly along the shoreline of Lake Winnipesaukee to the Meredith town line;
then proceeding southwesterly along the Meredith town line to the point of beginning.
WARD 2:
Beginning at a point of intersection of Jewett Brook with the Gilford town line;
then proceeding along the Gilford town line northerly to the center line of Stark Street;
then proceeding westerly along the center line of Stark Street to the intersection of Mechanic Street;
then proceeding southerly along the center line of Mechanic Street to the intersection of Harrison Street;
then proceeding westerly along the center line of Harrison Street to the intersection of Union Avenue;
then proceeding southerly along the center line of Union Avenue to the intersection of Elm Street;
then proceeding along the center line of Elm Street over the Elm Street Bridge to the easterly shore of Lake Opechee;
then proceeding northwesterly and then southerly along the shore of Lake Opechee to the mouth of the Winnipesaukee River;
then proceeding southerly along the western bank of the Winnipesaukee River to the Church Street Bridge;
then proceeding easterly along the center line of Church Street to the east bank of the Winnipesaukee River;
then proceeding southwesterly along the east bank of the Winnipesaukee River to the intersection of Arch Street;
then proceeding easterly along the center line of Arch Street to the intersection of Union Avenue;
then proceeding northerly along the center line of Union Avenue to the intersection of Summer Street;
then proceeding easterly along the center line of Summer Street to the intersection of Autumn Street;
then proceeding northerly along the center line of Autumn Street to the intersection of Winter Street;
then proceeding easterly along the center line of Winter Street to the intersection of Highland Street;
then proceeding northerly along the center line of Highland Street to the intersection of Gillette Street;
then proceeding easterly along the center line of Gillette Street to the intersection of Cherry Street;
then proceeding northerly along the center line of Cherry Street to Jewett Brook;
then proceeding easterly along Jewett Brook to the point of beginning at the Gilford town line.
WARD 3:
Beginning on the shore of Lake Winnisquam at a point off the cul-de-sac 175 feet south of the unnamed brook labeled "H" at Ahern Park;
then proceeding southerly along the easterly shoreline of Lake Winnisquam to the center line end of Gale Avenue;
then proceeding easterly along the center line of Gale Avenue to the intersection of Pleasant Street;
then proceeding southerly along the center line of Pleasant Street to the intersection of Harvard Street, then proceeding easterly along the center line of Harvard Street to the intersection of Main Street, then proceeding southerly along the center line of Main Street to the intersection of Union Avenue;
then proceeding northeasterly along the center line of Union Avenue to the intersection of Arch Street;
then proceeding along the center line of Arch Street to the east bank of the Winnipesaukee River;
then proceeding northerly along the east bank of the Winnipesaukee River to the intersection of Church Street;

then proceeding southerly along the easterly shore of Lake Winnisquam to the Belmont town line;
then proceeding first southeasterly, then northerly, and westerly along the Belmont town line to the Gilford town line;
then proceeding northerly along the Gilford town line to the center line of the Public Service of New Hampshire power line;
then proceeding southerly along the center line of the power line to the center line intersection of Hounsell Avenue;
then proceeding along the center line of Hounsell Avenue to the intersection of Main Street;
then proceeding along the center line of Main Street to the intersection of Harvard Street;
then proceeding westerly along the center line of Harvard Street to the intersection of Pleasant Street;

then proceeding easterly along the center line of Hounsell Avenue to the center line of the Public Service of New Hampshire power line;
then proceeding northerly along the center line of the power line to the Gilford town line;
then proceeding northerly along the Gilford town line to Jewett Brook;
then proceeding westerly along Jewett Brook to the center line intersection of Cherry Street;

then proceeding along the center line of Regis Road to the intersection of Ashley Drive;
then proceeding easterly along the center line of Ashley Drive to the intersection of Pendleton Road;
then proceeding southerly along the center line of Pendleton Road to the intersection of Endicott Street East;
then proceeding westerly along the center line of Endicott Street East over the Weirs Channel Bridge to the western shore of Paugus Bay;
then proceeding southerly along the western shore of Paugus Bay to the center line of the railroad tracks at the northerly bank of Pickerel Cove;
then proceeding southerly along the center line of the railroad tracks to a point easterly off the center line extension of Teddington Way;
then proceeding westerly along the center line extension and center line of Teddington Way to the intersection of Long Bay Drive;

then proceeding northerly along the center line of Union Avenue to the intersection of Harrison;
then proceeding easterly along the center line of Harrison Street to the intersection of Mechanic Street;
then proceeding northerly along the center line of Mechanic Street to the intersection of Stark Street;
then proceeding easterly along the center line of Stark Street to the Gilford town line; then proceeding first northerly along the Gilford town line to the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee;
then proceeding northerly along the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee to the point of beginning.
All references to streets, lots, monuments are to the City of Laconia Tax Assessor Map as it existed on August 27, 2002. The City Clerk shall annually update and maintain in the Clerk's office a list of all City streets and roads, and portions thereof, contained in each ward.
This amendment shall take effect upon passage. (Amended by referendum 11-5-2002, 3,864 yes, 1,075 no; 1-10-2012, 2,427 yes, 1,125 no)

Sect. 1:03  

Said City shall constitute one school district and the administration of all fiscal and prudential affairs of said school district, not vested in the board of education by this act, shall be exercised by the City Council. (1893 Charter, Section 5, as amended)

Sect. 1:04  

All property of said Laconia and of said Ward 6, including all school property and property of the fire precincts, shall be vested in said City. (1893 Charter, Section 6, as amended)
