There is hereby created and established the position of City Historian within the government of the City of Hoboken.
The City Historian shall be appointed by the Mayor. No person shall be eligible to appointment who is not a citizen of the United States and a resident of the City of Hoboken.
The City Historian shall hold office at the pleasure of the Mayor appointing him, and he shall serve without compensation.
Functions of the City Historian shall be to further the interest of the people of the City of Hoboken in all matters relating to the history of the City of Hoboken, to assemble data and information of historical interest and forward the same to the City Clerk for recording in an appropriate book to be kept by said City Clerk for such purpose and to perform other duties as the Mayor or City Council shall prescribe that relate to the recording of events of historical interest to the people of the City of Hoboken.
