[Adopted by Ord. No. 2007-01 (Sec. 2-19 of the 1972 Revised General Ordinances)]
There shall be an Advisory Board of Health of the Township of Fredon pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:63-7(d), whose membership, powers and duties shall be as further set forth herein below.
A. 
The Advisory Board of Health shall consist of six members: the Mayor; one member of the Township Committee, to be appointed by the Committee; and the remaining four members to be appointed by the Township Committee, all of whom shall be citizens and residents of the Township, and one of whom shall also serve as Secretary to the Board.
B. 
Members shall receive no compensation for their services, except for the Board Secretary, who may be paid at a rate and obtain such benefits as may be established by the Township Committee.
A. 
The Mayor shall serve during his or her term of office as Mayor.
B. 
The member of the Township Committee shall serve a one-year term, and may be reappointed from year to year.
C. 
The member/secretary shall serve for a term of one year, and may be reappointed from year to year.
D. 
The remaining citizen members shall be appointed for four-year terms.
E. 
Vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term only. Members shall serve until their respective successors are appointed and shall qualify.
A. 
The Advisory Board of Health created herein shall have the power to recommend to the Township Committee passing, altering or amending ordinances as well as the power to recommend any rules, regulations and/or investigations regarding public health and for those purposes set forth in N.J.S.A. 26:3-31.
B. 
The Advisory Board of Health has the authority to prepare and submit reports and recommendations to the Township Committee of actions to follow regarding any concerns of the public health in the Township of Fredon.
C. 
The Advisory Board of Health shall prepare an estimate of any costs to be incurred by the Advisory Board and submit it to the Township Committee for its approval prior to incurring any expense.
D. 
The Advisory Board of Health does not have the authority to contract, bind or act on behalf of the Township of Fredon. Its sole function is to assist the Township Committee in performing its functions pursuant to N.J.S.A. 26:3-31.
E. 
The Advisory Board of Health shall meet on the fourth Monday of every month to discuss matters regarding any concerns of the public health in the Township of Fredon. Such meetings will be open to the public for participation.
F. 
The Advisory Board of Health shall meet quarterly with the Fredon Township Committee and submit monthly reports and recommendations to the Fredon Township Committee of actions to follow regarding any concerns of the public health in the Township of Fredon.
G. 
The Township Committee is not required to accept or follow the recommendations or advice of the Advisory Board of Health.
The Advisory Board may be funded by the Township when and to the extent that the Fredon Township Committee deems necessary and appropriate. The Advisory Board is authorized to incur and pay for expenses within such limits as are prescribed and budgeted by the Township Committee.
The Township Committee shall provide a suitable work space for the Advisory Board of Health, if available.
