Pursuant to and in accordance with the requirements of MGL c. 148, § 10A, 780 CMR (State Building Code), 527 CMR and 528 CMR, a permit issued by the head of the Fire Department shall be required in order to install a sprinkler system in a new or existing structure, subject to the requirements of the fire prevention regulations and MGL c. 148. Only a licensed fire protection sprinkler system contractor shall obtain said permit to install a sprinkler system. The permit shall be posted at the construction site. The Building Commissioner and the head of the Fire Department shall maintain a record of the permit. The permit shall expire within one year of issuance. The permit fee shall be as established in Chapter 390, Fees, Article V, Fire Department, of this Code.
