No person shall discharge, or cause or permit to be discharged on any premises over which such person has dominion or control, any weapon, device or mechanism which propels a projectile with force, including but not limited to air guns and bow and arrows (but not including firearms as defined in 18 P.S. § 5515), in or over any public highway or place in West Norriton Township, or in or over any private place in West Norriton Township.

Nothing contained in this Part 2 shall be construed to prevent:
1. 
The legitimate use of firearms by police officers, in the performance of their duty;
2. 
The legitimate discharge of firearms, of the type prescribed by the Pennsylvania State Game Commission, within the boundaries of those areas so designated for hunting or shooting by the said Game Commission, if said areas are not so posted to the contrary by the owners thereof, pursuant to Article VIII, § 820, of the Act of June 3, 1937, P.L. 225, as amended, 34 P.S. § 1311.820, subject however to the rules and regulations of said Game Commission; and,
3. 
The legitimate discharge of firearms, of the type prescribed by the Pennsylvania State Game Commission, upon the property of the Norristown State Hospital, provided however, that the use of firearms upon the property of the Norristown State Hospital shall be conducted under the personal supervision of the duly authorized representatives of said Game Commission.

The discharge, the causing to be discharged, or the permitting to be discharged of any weapon, device or mechanism which propels a projectile with force, including but not limited to air guns and bow and arrows (but not including firearms as defined in 18 P.S. § 5515) contrary to the provisions of §§ 6-201 and 6-202 of this Part 2 are hereby declared to be public or common nuisances dangerous to life, limb and property and may be summarily abated by any police officer of West Norriton Township by confiscating the same and removing it to police headquarters in the Township Building. Such abatement may be in addition to fines and penalties hereafter provided for.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this Part 2 shall forfeit and pay a fine or penalty of not more than $600 to West Norriton Township, the same to be collected by a proceeding before a District Justice in said Township or recovered as debts of like amount are now by law recoverable, and in default of the payment of such fine and costs shall be liable to imprisonment of not more than 30 days in the Montgomery County Prison.
