Pursuant to Town Law § 64, Subdivision 17, there is hereby created a committee of citizens to act in an advisory capacity to the Town Board in the matter of the Town of Kinderhook Water District No. 1.
The members of such committee shall serve without compensation and shall be responsible to meet, consult and advise the Town Board in all matters pertaining to the management of said Water District. Said committee, however, shall have no powers other than advisory.
The Town Board shall appoint the Advisory Committee, consisting of six members, and shall designate its Chairman. A member of the Town Board may be appointed to serve on the Advisory Committee.
Of the members of the Advisory Committee first appointed, one shall hold office for a term of one year, one for a term of two years, one for a term of three years, one for a term of four years, one for a term of five years and one for a term of six years from and after his/her appointment.
Their successors shall be appointed for a term of six years from and after the expiration of the terms of their predecessors in office. If a vacancy shall occur otherwise than by expiration of term, it shall be filled by the Town Board by appointment for the unexpired term.
