The Township Council hereby finds that there is a need to provide for a standard display of house numbers on properties within the Township of Willingboro. The Council further finds that the display of these numbers will facilitate public safety and will further the protection of life and property within the Township of Willingboro.

Every house, building or structure erected or located within the Township of Willingboro shall have displayed the number assigned to the building.
A. 
Single-family residential display requirements.
(1) 
The number shall be at least six inches in height.
(2) 
The color of the number displayed shall contrast the color of the background upon which it is affixed.
(3) 
The number must be located on the structure in a permanent location that is easily visible from the street (i.e., not on the front door or garage door).
(4) 
The address number shall be visible at night.
(5) 
Numbers shall be in numerical and not in script form.
B. 
Townhouse display requirements. All townhouses shall, in addition to the above single-family residential requirements, display identical numbers on the rear building in a prominent place on the structure so that the numbers are easily visible from the sidewalk along the rear of the property.
C. 
Multiple-family complex display requirements.
(1) 
The address must be displayed on signage, if there is one address display sign on the lot and at least one location on the building. The unit range must be displayed on the building, and the unit entrance address must be at each entrance.
(a) 
Signage: minimum eight inches.
(b) 
Building address: minimum 10 inches.
(c) 
Unit range: minimum 10 inches.
(d) 
Unit entrance: minimum four inches.
(2) 
Contrast the color of the number with the color of the background.
(3) 
The address number shall be visible at night.
(4) 
Numbers shall be in numerical form and not in script form.
D. 
Commercial/industrial building display requirements.
(1) 
The address must be displayed on signage, if there is one address display sign on the lot and at least one location on the building. In the event approaching vehicles can access/view the building from the front and rear, the address must be displayed on the front and rear of the building. Unit entrance/exit numbers must be located on each door.
(a) 
Signage: minimum eight inches.
(b) 
Building: minimum 12 inches.
(c) 
Unit entrance/exit: minimum four inches.
(2) 
Contrast the color of the number with the color of the background.
(3) 
Illuminate the address directly or indirectly so it is visible at night.
(4) 
Numbers shall be in numerical form and not in script form.[1]
