The owner of every residential, industrial, or commercial building shall maintain the street number on the front of the building or in the area of the main entrance.
A. 
For buildings 25 feet or less from the property line, the street number shall be Arabic numerals not less than four inches high and in a contrasting color from the background.
B. 
For buildings beyond 25 feet from the property line, the street number shall be Arabic numerals not less than six inches high and in a contrasting color from the background.
C. 
Whenever any building is situated more than 50 feet from the street line, the number should also be placed near the walk, driveway, or common entrance to the building, or upon a post, fence, tree, mailbox or other appropriate place so as to be clearly visible from the sidewalk or from the property's street access.
D. 
In the case of a building being totally obscured from the street and/or having an address inconsistent with the actual location of the street access to the building, the owner shall cause to be posted a sign no larger than eight inches by 12 inches stating the entire address, including street number and street name, said sign to be located and posted in such a way as to clearly identify the driveway access to the building and be clearly discernible by oncoming emergency vehicles. In addition, the latter shall also display the number on the front of the building in conformance with the size, color and location requirements stated above.
The Board of Assessors shall be in charge of assigning new street numbers and resolving any disputes as to existing numbers.
The owner of any building presently numbered shall be deemed to comply with this bylaw by displaying the present number, until and unless notified by the proper authority that his/her present numbering is a safety concern or is deemed indiscernible; at that point the owner has 10 days to comply as stated in § 50-6, Violations and penalties.
This bylaw shall not apply to accessory structures.
Whoever violates any provision of this bylaw shall be liable to a penalty of $1 per day for each date during or on which failure to so number continues, commencing 10 days following date of receipt of written notice from the Town Clerk.
