Public records of the Borough of Hanover shall from time to time be disposed of in accordance with the Municipal Records Act of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.[1]

Such public records shall be disposed of only in conformance with schedules and regulations which shall be made and promulgated by the Local Government Records Committee as established by said Act of the Legislature.
Each individual act of disposition shall be approved by resolution of the Borough of Hanover, and certification must be obtained from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission that such disposal is in accordance with the aforesaid established schedule.

All public records of the Borough of Hanover, as defined by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Right to Know Law of 2008, shall be available for access 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the office of the Borough Secretary, 44 Frederick Street, Hanover, Pennsylvania 17331.
A. 
Upon the submission of a right-to-know request, any person that is a legal resident of the United States may inspect public records in the Hanover Borough office, 44 Frederick Street, Hanover, Pennsylvania 17331, during regular office hours. Copies of public record documents shall be made by the Borough Secretary, as time permits, at a cost of $0.25 per side copied. Items will be mailed at cost only if items are paid for in advance.
B. 
Copies of other documents, not governed under the Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law of 2008[1] and the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records, shall be made by the Borough Secretary or his/her designee, as time permits, at a cost of $0.35 per side copied. Items will be mailed at cost only if items are paid for in advance.

C. 
Certification of documents as true and correct and notarized copies of Borough documents are available from the office of the Borough Secretary for $5.
D. 
The Code of the Borough of Hanover, as maintained in electronic form, shall be available for review on the Borough's website. Access to the Code is available via computer at the Hanover Borough Office and Guthrie Memorial Library (2 Library Place, Hanover, Pennsylvania) during regular hours, without charge.
E. 
Copies of Police Department accident reports and Fire Department incident reports shall be available for a cost of $15 per report, during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
