Board of Health — See Ch. 2.750.
Unless some other provision is made by the Charter, by ordinance
or through a reorganization plan filed by the Mayor, there shall be
a Director of Public Health, who shall be appointed by the Board of
Health, pursuant to MGL c. 111, § 27. Pursuant to the Reorganization
Plan filed by the Mayor on May 1, 2008, the powers and duties of the
Director of Public Health are consolidated with and performed by the
Director of Municipal Licenses and Inspections, who shall be appointed
by the Mayor for an indefinite term.
A.
The Director of Public Health shall be responsible for the performance
of all public health related functions and activities of the Town
and shall coordinate the local public health program with programs
conducted by the commonwealth and with other municipalities.
B.
The Director of Public Health shall be responsible for the enforcement
within the Town of all state laws and regulations pertaining to public
health and Town ordinances, rules and regulations affecting the public
health.[1]
