A. 
No person shall willfully or maliciously taunt, torment, tease, beat or strike any dog used by the Police Department of the Township of Jackson for the performance of the functions or duties of the Police Department, nor shall such person interfere with or meddle with any such dog used by said Department or any member thereof in the performance of the functions or duties of said Department or of such officer or member.
B. 
No person shall willfully or maliciously torture, mutilate, injure, disable, poison or kill any dog used by the Police Department of the Township of Jackson for the performance of the functions or duties of such Department, nor shall any person interfere with or meddle with any such dog used by the said Department or any member thereof for the performance of any of the functions or duties of said Department or such officer or member.
Any person violating the provisions of § 98-42 of this article shall be subject to a fine not to exceed $500 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days, or both, in the discretion of the Judge of the Municipal Court.
