[Adopted 9-12-1983 by Ord. No. 45-83 (Ch. 91, Art. VI, of the 1972 Code)]
The Township of Jackson hereby adopts the present street address and numbering system of the Township of Jackson as the system of numbering all buildings and lots of land within the Township pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:67-1j.
[Amended 7-21-1993 by Ord. No. 28-93]
Within 90 days of the date of adoption of this article, the owner of every parcel of real property in the Township of Jackson upon which is located a structure to which a street number has been assigned shall have the number so assigned displayed on the parcel or on the structure in a position which is easily observed and readable from either direction along the public street. Display of the assigned number on a mailbox directly in front of the structure or on the street directly opposite the structure shall be acceptable. In the case of individual residences and two-family residences specifically excluding strip malls and shopping centers, all numbers shall be in Arabic figures at least three inches high, 1/2 inch wide and shall be of light-reflective material. Numbers written in script, cursive, Old English, Roman or other styles of writing shall not be acceptable because of the difficulty of agencies responding in emergency situations to read such style. Additionally, each separate commercial building, including strip malls or shopping centers, industrial building and apartment building shall be required to display a number and/or letter of at least eight inches in height and one inch in width, subject to the above conditions. However, individual retail establishments within a commercial building shall not be required to post individual numbers, provided that the commercial building exhibits a number as set forth in this section.
[Amended 8-22-2017 by Ord. No. 16-17]
Any person, firm or corporation violating the provisions of this article shall be subject to a fine of $50.
