No person shall store or abandon or permit the storage or abandonment
of any motor vehicle which is unregistered or which has a suspended
registration out of doors upon any public or private parking lots
in any zone in the Township or in any public parking spaces along
the streets of the Township which are open to the public or to which
the public is invited, whether the lot is owned by the government
or any private or business entity.
A.
The provisions of this article shall not apply to a vehicle on the
premises of a private residence or other private property to which
the public is not invited.
B.
The provisions of this article shall not apply to unregistered motor
vehicles that are exempt from registration under Title 39 of the New
Jersey statutes, for example vehicles stored on the lot of a car dealership,
or motor vehicle repair establishments or vehicles held in an appropriate
storage place or depository maintained in a lawful place and manner
by the Township.
Whenever any abandoned or unregistered vehicle is found in violation
of the provisions of this article, any member of the Police Department
is authorized to issue a summons to any person deemed to be in violation.
In addition, any member of the Police Department is authorized to
immediately remove or cause to be removed and impound such motor vehicle
without the necessity of prior notification.
