The possession or control of an open container containing any alcoholic beverage in any public area, sidewalk, street, alley, parking lot or other property upon which the public is generally invited shall be illegal and in violation of this article, unless the beverage was being dispensed and consumed pursuant to any general or specific permit issued by any agency authorized to do so.
A violation of this article is an offense punishable by a fine not exceeding $100 and/or imprisonment up to a maximum of 15 days.[1]
