As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
SENIOR CITIZEN
An individual 62 years or older.
SENIOR CITIZEN FACILITY
A facility for residents age 62 and over consisting of 20 or more dwelling units.

Security cameras shall be installed around the perimeter and within the lobbies and all other common areas of all existing and newly constructed senior citizen facilities in accordance with a plan that shall be submitted to and approved by the City Construction Official. The security cameras around the perimeter shall be installed so as to maintain continuous surveillance of the public streets and areas adjacent to the facility and shall conform to Chapter 160, Fiber-Optic Systems, governing communications system installation. The security cameras within the lobbies and other common areas of the facilities shall be installed so as to maintain continuous surveillance of said areas and all entrances and exits thereto. All security cameras shall be installed so as to blend in with the installation location and to minimize any negative visual or aesthetic impact. The installation of security cameras in all existing senior citizen facilities shall be completed by December 31, 2012. Security cameras shall not be required in hallways of senior citizen facilities. Security cameras shall not be required in any stairwells.

Recordings from the surveillance cameras required by this article shall be maintained for at least 60 days and shall be made immediately available to the City Police Department in the event the recordings are deemed necessary by the City Police Department for an investigation.
