The existing board of appeals now functioning under the Zoning Ordinance shall be the board of appeals under section 81Z of chapter 41 of the General Laws. In accordance with Article 2, Section 2-10 and Article 3, Section 3-3 of the City Charter enacted by Chapter 72 of the Acts of 2013, the Mayor shall appoint all of the members to the Board as set forth in MGL c. 41, § 81Z, and subject to City Council approval. Each member shall serve a term of five years beginning from the date of their original appointment. In the event of a vacancy, the Mayor shall appoint a successor as soon as practicable, subject to city council approval, and said successor shall fulfill the unexpired term of the member whose seat was vacated.
