Editor's Note: This local law was originally adopted
as Ch. 101 but was renumbered to maintain the alphabetical organization
of the Code.
For the purpose of this chapter, the following words shall have
the meanings indicated:
The ceremonies, processions, services and gatherings (wake)
held in connection with the burial or cremation of the dead.
Protest activities engaged in by a person or persons which
disturb, annoy or alarm, or create a risk of disturbing, annoying
or alarming, any person attending a funeral event, as such is defined
in this chapter, by use of words, utterances, actions or graphic depictions,
with intent to disturb, annoy or alarm.
It is unlawful for any person to engage in picketing within
1,000 feet of any cemetery, burial plot, funeral home, mortuary, crematorium,
church, synagogue, mosque, temple or any other location or facility
being used for a funeral event within two hours prior to, during,
and/or two hours following the commencement of a funeral event.
Any person violating the provisions of this chapter shall be
guilty of an offense and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished
by a fine not to exceed $250, and/or by incarceration for a period
not to exceed 15 days.
