A Police Department is hereby established in and for the Borough of Mount Union.

The position of Chief of Police is hereby established as the executive head of the Police Department of the Borough of Mount Union. Said Chief of Police shall have such powers as are presently and in the future assigned to said position by the Borough Code of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.[1] The compensation for such position shall be as from time to time determined by the Borough Council of the Borough of Mount Union.

The following classifications are hereby established: patrolman, or those of such classifications to which Council shall at any specific time have appointed one or more police officers. The number of persons to serve in each of such classifications on a full-time and/or a part-time basis and the compensation of each shall be as determined by the Borough Council from time to time.

Nothing herein shall affect the authority of the Mayor to appoint special policemen during emergencies.
