Borough of Colwyn, PA Chapter 6 CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

§ 6-1 Establishment of position.

There is hereby established in the Borough of Colwyn the position of Code Enforcement Officer. The Borough Council shall appoint said officer and hereby confirms any appointment heretofore made.

§ 6-2 Duties.

The duties of the Code Enforcement Officer shall be to enforce the provisions of the ordinances of the Borough of Colwyn. The Borough Council shall designate what ordinances it wishes the Code Enforcement Officer to enforce.

§ 6-3 Subject to direction and authority of Manager.

In the performance of his duties, the Code Enforcement Officer shall be subject to the direction and authority of the Borough Manager.

§ 6-4 Ordinances amended to authorize enforcement.

The ordinances of the Borough of Colwyn affected by the appointment of said Code Enforcement Officer are hereby amended to the extent necessary to authorize the Code Enforcement Officer to enforce said ordinance or ordinances.

§ 6-5 Powers and duties.

The Code Enforcement Officer shall have power to enforce the ordinances of the Borough of Colwyn, and in the event that any other official or employee is named in the ordinance as the enforcement official, the Code Enforcement Officer shall have the same duties and may perform the same functions as the employee or official named in said ordinance.

§ 6-6 Authorization for enforcement.

In the performance of his duties, the Code Enforcement Officer is authorized to appear as a witness, make inspections, issue orders, issue citations and prepare and send notices, and he is authorized to bring suit and to take any proper action necessary to enforce the ordinances of the Borough of Colwyn.
