Editor's Note: References to the Planning Board have been
changed to the Zoning Board of Appeals throughout this chapter pursuant
to L.L. No. 1-2021, adopted 5-10-2021. Said local law abolished the
Planning Board and transferred the functions of the Planning Board
to the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Pursuant to the provisions of §§ 267 and 271
of the Town Law and the provisions of the General Municipal Law, the
Town Board of the Town of Vernon hereby authorizes the appointment
of alternate Board members for the Zoning Board of Appeals of the
Town of Vernon to serve in the event conflicts of interest arise,
or to serve in the event of extended disability of any regular Zoning
Board of Appeals member, so as to supply a quorum when needed.
The authorized number of members of the Zoning Board of Appeals
is hereby reduced from seven to five. The reduction in Board Members
shall be achieved by attrition, so that the membership of the Zoning
Board of Appeals shall be reduced by not making appointments with
respect to the first two vacancies that arise in the ordinary course
of the passage of time.
