A. 
An exemption from real property taxes shall be granted to qualified senior citizens as provided in the Real Property Tax Law of the State of New York based upon the following chart.
B. 
Any person who shall turn 65 years of age during the calendar year in which a tax roll is filed shall be eligible to apply for this exemption, even though their birthday may occur after the taxable status date. The Assessor is hereby authorized to grant an exemption to such person, provided proper application is made prior to the taxable status date. Such exemption shall be granted on the following basis:
