It is the finding and the determination of the Town Board that,
in the interest of public safety, stop signs shall be installed at
both ends of the overhead bridge crossing at Woodford Drive over the
Fox River Valley Railroad tracks pursuant to the authority granted
by § 349.07(8), Wis. Stats.
The Town Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to procure
and cause to be installed official stop signs at both ends of the
Woodford Drive overhead bridge.
Every operator of a motor vehicle approaching an official stop
sign at the overhead bridge shall cause such vehicle to stop before
crossing the bridge, unless directed to proceed by a traffic officer.
Any person, firm or corporation who shall be found guilty of
violating any of the provisions of this article shall be required
to pay a forfeiture of not less than $30 nor more than $60 for each
offense, together with the cost of prosecution, and, in default of
payment of such forfeiture, shall be imprisoned in the county jail
of Washington County until such forfeiture and all costs, including
subsequent costs, have been paid, but not for a greater period than
30 days.
This article shall take effect when official stop signs as required
herein have been installed and when proof of posting this article
in three public places in the Town has been filed and recorded in
the office of the Town Clerk.
