It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge a firearm, air rifle, air pistol, crossbow, or other weapon or instrument which discharges a projectile capable of inflicting bodily injury, except in the lawful defense of person or property in the performance of a lawful duty, provided that this section shall not apply to:
A. 
The use of blank ammunition at athletic events, military funerals, parades and other functions at which the use of blank ammunition is appropriate.
B. 
The duly authorized use or discharge of archery equipment on authorized target ranges on public property when such activity is conducted under competent supervision.
C. 
The use or discharge of firearms or archery equipment in accordance with generally accepted range safety procedures at and within any indoor shooting range which has been duly authorized by the grant of a special exception under Chapter 405, Zoning, of this Code.
In addition to the other penalties established by Town law, any weapon or instrument so discharged in violation of this chapter shall be subject to confiscation by the Police Department.
This chapter does not apply to any law enforcement officer while in performance of official duty.
Any person who violates any provision of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $500 and/or a term of imprisonment not to exceed 60 days.
